Empowering Vision: Lions Club Kohinoor Leads Eye Screening Drive in Delhi

In a significant step toward promoting eye health and early detection of vision issues, Lions Club Kohinoor, in association with MojiRam Lions Eye Hospital, organized a Comprehensive Eye Screening Camp on August 20, 2025, at Lions Public School, Ashok Vihar Phase-I, Delhi. The initiative targeted the well-being of students, educators, and school staff by providing professional vision assessments and eye care awareness—all at no cost.

Running from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, the camp attracted widespread participation, reflecting both the importance of vision care and the trust placed in the Lions Club’s health-focused endeavors.

Massive Turnout Highlights Community Trust in Eye Care Services

The eye screening camp saw the participation of 1,582 individuals, encompassing:

  • Students from various grade levels
  • Teachers
  • Administrative and support staff

The large turnout underscored the community’s awareness of eye health and its willingness to take proactive steps toward safeguarding vision.

Key Outcomes: Data-Driven Success from the Eye Screening Camp

The camp’s success wasn't just in numbers—it was in its outcomes. With meticulous coordination and the presence of qualified eye care professionals, the following results were achieved:

  • 283 Refractions Conducted:
Individuals who displayed symptoms of blurred or unclear vision underwent thorough refraction tests. These assessments helped identify vision correction needs, leading to accurate prescriptions for eyeglasses.
  • 20 Eye Drop Vials Distributed:
Eye drops were provided to treat common, minor ailments such as dryness, irritation, and mild infections. These quick interventions helped manage discomfort and prevent escalation.
  • 9 Cataract Cases Identified:
Through careful screening, nine cataract cases were diagnosed. These individuals were referred to MojiRam Lions Eye Hospital for specialized evaluation and surgical consultation, ensuring timely intervention.

Community Engagement and Lasting Impact

The initiative also served as an educational platform. Students and teachers were briefed on essential topics such as:

  • Eye hygiene practices
  • Symptoms that should not be ignored
  • The importance of annual eye checkups
  • Proper screen time management

These informative interactions empowered individuals with the knowledge needed to maintain and protect their eyesight beyond the camp.

Conclusion: Vision for All, One Camp at a Time

With 1582 lives positively impacted, this initiative stands as a beacon of what community service can achieve when driven by empathy, expertise, and collaboration.
