In a strong step toward eliminating avoidable blindness, a Free Vision Check-up and Cataract Referral Camp was successfully organised at Devi Mandir, Village Anwali, District Sonipat (Haryana). The humanitarian initiative was led by Lions Club Delhi Naya Bazar, in proud collaboration with the renowned MojiRam Lions Eye Hospital, with support from Lions Club Delhi Naya Bazar.

Bridging the Healthcare Gap

The camp proved to be a crucial healthcare lifeline for residents of Anwali village and surrounding rural areas, where access to specialised eye care remains limited. By combining general health screenings with advanced ophthalmic examinations, the program ensured a comprehensive and inclusive approach to community well-being.

Services Offered

• Comprehensive Eye Care: Refraction testing, dry eye evaluation, and retina screening using portable fundus equipment (with photo documentation)
• Specialised Screenings: Diabetic retinopathy checks
• Preventive Health Checks: Blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring
• Free Support: Distribution of spectacles and medicated eye drops

The camp witnessed an encouraging response, with 360 beneficiaries receiving expert consultation and care.

• Vision Assessments: 259 refraction tests conducted
• Cataract Referrals: 35 Patients identified and referred for free surgery
• Retina Care: 10 Diabetic retinopathy cases identified; fundus tests conducted for retina patients
• 225 Free Eye Glasses distributed to needy patients
• Medication Support: 320 vials of eye drops distributed
• General Health Screenings: 48 blood pressure and blood sugar tests completed

Commitment to “Sight First”

True to the “Sight First” mission, patients diagnosed with cataracts have been referred to MojiRam Lions Eye Hospital for completely free surgical treatment, ensuring that financial constraints do not stand in the way of restored vision.

This impactful initiative once again reflects the unwavering commitment of Lions Club Delhi Naya Bazar to community service. By breaking financial and geographical barriers, the club continues to reinforce the belief that quality healthcare is a basic right, not a privilege.
